Guide to Creating the Perfect Bed

A change of bedding is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to improve your night’s sleep. Nobody wants scratchy, bobbled sheets which are too hot or too cool: they can keep us awake at night or give us a lesser quality of sleep without us even being aware of it. We need to choose a fabric which feels soft against the skin, such as cotton. You may find silk or satin sheets, although soft to the touch and fashionable, too cool, particularly during winter months in the UK.

One luxurious brand of bedding is Harlequin, who make quality duvet covers, pillowcases (in Oxford and housewife styles), and matching cushions, to finish off a room beautifully. Harlequin bedding is of the highest quality, made from fabrics such as 200 thread count cotton sateen, which has a gentle light reflecting sheen. The quality of Harlequin bedding is clear from a distance. It looks beautiful and luxurious, but as you move closer you realise the quality is also evident when you touch it.

Harlequin duvet covers feature designs which are contemporary yet warm, and some are reversible to give you flexibility with changing the look of your bed. The Pod design is retro, featuring a deep purple and zesty lime colouring. Prato, in contrast, boasts a graduating stripe in dusky blue and stone colouring. Both Harlequin duvet covers feature a piped edge in one of the design’s main colours, demonstrating the quality of these designs. These two designs are a small example of the Harlequin range. The quality fabric in these designs, and Harlequins other bedding, feels fresh, crisp and allows the skin to breathe.

There is more to Harlequin than bedding however. Opulent Harlequin throws and cushions in velvets and silk set off your bedroom perfectly, and they even offer an inspirational range of stand-out wallpapers in matching prints to the bedding.

Pillows and Duvet.

Pillows and duvets can feature natural or synthetic fillings. Synthetic pillows tend to be less luxurious to the touch, but are generally better at being machine washed which helps to remove dust mites and their droppings. This is particularly useful to those with allergies affected by dust mites, although eczema sufferers may find synthetic pillows too hot and uncomfortable.

Natural fillings for duvets and pillows include wool, silk and feather, which are more difficult to clean. They do tend to mould more successfully to the head and neck however, and have a more luxurious feel.

Mattress.

Mattress type is a very personal preference. Unlike bed linen, where everybody looks for quality and design in brands such as Harlequin, mattresses very much depend on the individual.

Open spring mattresses are the most common type of mattress. These tend to be the cheapest, yet least durable form of common mattress.

Pocket spring mattresses are also spring-based, but these are sewn into separate fabric pockets. This is ideal if there is a weight or size variation between the two people sleeping in the bed.

Memory foam is another type of mattress. They work by moulding and re-moulding to the shape of the body, providing support and helping to maintain a good posture. People with spinal conditions may benefit from a memory foam mattress because of this.

But whatever mattress, duvet or pillows you choose, don’t forget the importance of choosing quality bedding. A top-of-the-range expensive mattress is no use if your bed linen is keeping you too hot, too warm, or awake all night.

The Benefits of Using Electric Curtains Tracks

Whenever we think of motorised curtains, we all picture them being used in conference rooms within the big cities, giving that particular business an air of professionalism. But lately, it is becoming more and more popular for electric curtains rails to be used within the home due to the various benefits they can offer over regular curtains tracks.

It can often be difficult for some people to open or close their curtains due to various reasons. For instance, they may be physically less mobile than others, therefore finding it particularly difficult to perform everyday tasks such as this. But it can also be difficult for the able-bodied whose curtains may, for example, just be difficult to reach. Because of this, accidents can occur and you may be injured or the curtains themselves may be damaged. These incidents can be prevented, however, with the use of motorised curtains. These will open and close without any physical assistance from you meaning that there’s no chance of any more accidents occurring in this area; after all, electric curtain rails won’t fall down on you as you won’t have any need to pull on the curtains themselves.

By investing in electric curtains, you can control exactly when you want them to open or close. For instance, electric curtains can be controlled via the level of daylight and open when the sun is rising and close when it is setting. Built-in sensors monitor the level of light outside, so once you have put this setting in place, the curtains will react to the light (or lack of) and they will not require any further assistance from you.

This means that the system can also still work for when you are away, providing you with reassurance that your home will appear occupied at all times and ward off any potential burglars.

Motorised curtains can be controlled by using an extremely straightforward timer which allows you to select the specific times that you wish for your curtains to open or close. The timer itself is neatly masked behind the curtains and will not disturb the aesthetics of your window.

Alternatively, electric curtains can be operated via a remote control system (some are even available to close all curtains simultaneously) so that you can be in control of these at all times and monitor the level of sunlight in your home.

Incidentally, if you have a home entertainment system, it is also possible for this to be linked to the electric curtain system, so that if you want to settle down with your loved ones and watch a film, your curtains will close, giving you that ultimate cinema experience, but from the comfort of your own home.

Electric curtain tracks are easy to install and can be attached to even the heaviest or largest of curtains. A common misconception is that the motorised curtains will cause loud noise every time they are opened or closed; but this is not the case. A range of glides are available from most manufacturers that allow you to draw your curtains silently, consequently not disturbing or causing irritation to you in any way.

Whether you’re after motorised curtains for your home or for the work place, electric curtains allow you the opportunity to add a touch of luxury to your environment as well as being practical at the same time.

How to Find Serviced Offices in the Derby Area

If you are starting a new company then you will need office space. It may because you are just starting out and need office space to open your business, or you may have already been operating for a number of years but have decided it is now time to get a dedicated office or to move on to bigger and better equipped office space. It is always tricky no matter what the reason.

Finding the right office for you depends on various factors. The Derby area is very limited in the amount of office space it has on offer. Finding the right office at the right price can be tricky. You will need to take into account a number of different factors.

Size

Size is one of the most important factors. Consider how many employees you have now and how much space each of them requires. Also consider the future though. Consider whether you will be taking on new staff soon or will require more space for any reason in the foreseeable future.

Location

The right location is essential. It dictates how easy it is to recruit, how easy it is for clients to come and see you and how easily that you can get to work yourself. Think carefully about your location.

Services

Different offices have different levels of service. Serviced office space provides you with all the facilities of big business. Other offices are simply raw buildings.

Cost

One of the most important factors is of course cost. You will want to spend as little as possible on rent as this is a fixed cost that will drain profits on a monthly basis. It is essential that you get the best value for money possible.

Term

Different offices will offer different terms. Some office space requires long term commitment which may be unrealistic. This flexibility in small business can be very appealing.

There are more companies now opting for serviced offices. The benefit of using serviced offices is that they allow for plenty of flexibility but also allow you to move into a fully functioning office straight away. There are lots of different types of office space in Derby. Some are fully serviced while other office space in Derby is literally just rental of a building or office that comes with no frills. This type of office space in Derby can seem cheaper on the outset. However, when you factor into account the additional costs it can quickly be more appealing to use serviced office space.

Serviced office space in Derby means that you can effectively move straight in and already have access to all facilities. This means that you will already have seating, desks and telephones. There will also be maintenance and security included. This means minimal set up time and expense. It minimises disruption and allows you to focus on business rather than chasing up phone engineers and decorators. The other benefit of serviced office space as it often requires very low commitment. Often a small deposit can secure the office. There is often a very low time commitment too. This means that if you hit money trouble or quickly need to expand, that you are not stuck in the same office. Normal offices often require much longer commitment.

Use Hypersensitive Skin Products To Look After Allergy-Prone Skin

These are skin care products that are fragrance free with ingredients that are gentle on hypersensitive skin. These hypersensitive skin products should be free from essential oils, added fragrances or scents and irritating substances. These irritants include sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), sodium laureth sulphate (SLES), parabens, phthalates, ethyl alcohol and GMOs.

Skin-care regime with hypersensitive skin products

A skincare regime with hypersensitive skin products is the same as any regime – just with gentler products. Outlined below is an example of a typical regime using scent-free hypersensitive skin products:

1. Shower or bath with an organic base no scent shower gel.

To begin your cleansing regime you should use a fragrance free shower gel suitable for hypersensitive skin. It should contain natural products such as aloe vera and yucca, kind to ultra sensitive skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. This hypersensitive skin product should be SLS-free.

2. Use an organic base no scent hand and body lotion whilst skin is still moist.

Hypersensitive skin products like hand and body lotion should be rich in moisturising substances such as Omega 6 and fatty acids. With gentle and natural ingredients such as hemp, avocado and aloe vera, natural lotions should restore the skin's moisture whilst being non-greasy and easily absorbed. Irritating substances such as petrochemicals or phthalates should not be present in the lotion.

3. Apply an organic base no scent deodorant to dry armpits.

A deodorant that is part of the hypersensitive skin products will not use harsh ingredients like ethyl alcohol or parabens. It should be gentle on the skin, whilst also being effective in preventing bacterial growth. Scented deodorants that contain aluminium should be avoided as it clogs the skin's pores. A no-scent deodorant with natural ingredients such as witch hazel, olive leaf or aloe vera however should be sought after.

4. Cleanse the face and neck with an organic base no scent cleanser.

After using hypersensitive skin products on the body, it is then necessary to focus on the face and neck. Use fingertips to apply the facial cleanser in small circular movements and then wash off with warm water, or remove with tissue or cotton wool. This hypersensitive skin product should be made from calming, natural ingredients such as chamomile, marshmallow or aloe vera and free from irritating emulsifiers and essential oils. Hypersensitive skin products specifically formulated for the face and neck should be ultra-gentle, leaving skin feeling smooth with its moisture balance retained. Cleansers for the face can also be used to remove general make-up and eye make-up from hypersensitive skin.

5. Finish by applying a no scent 24 hour fragrance-free facial moisturiser.

As the last part of this skincare regime, the face should be moisturised with hypersensitive skin products. A face cream that can be used morning and night is preferable so that your skin can be fed with vitamins, minerals and essential nutrients at all times. Ingredients should be mild and gentle on hypersensitive skin, such as natural avocado and primrose, which will also support the skin's health. As with all other scent-free products, the moisturiser should be free from lanolin, petrochemicals and colourants.

So, if you introduce hypersensitive skin products into your daily skincare regime, your skin should not experience any more allergic reactions. These products will also help calm skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

The Importance of Computer Health and Safety

The following computer health and safety assessments need to be carried out by office workers. If these assessments are carried out, potential risks can be highlighted and thus resolved.

1. Positioning of the chair

Each chair in the workplace should promote good posture and ensure maximum comfort. Computer health and safety guidelines state that chairs should support the lower back. It should also be noted that the chair must be between 19 and 27 inches from the monitor.

2. Layout of the desk

A working area should promote efficient working by being comfortable and stress-free. The worker's attention must not be diverted, so any potential distraction should be removed.

3. Windows and lighting

The computer should not be situated in places where windows and lighting will affect screen visibility; any kind of glare on the screen will make it harder to work effectively. Nonetheless if the issue of glare cannot be resolved, computer health and safety regulations advise buying screen filters. With knowledge of computer health and safety, each worker can check their screen regularly for brightness levels. If their work is affected by strained eye muscles, the worker can let their employer know.

4. The screen monitor

To ensure full computer health and safety the worker's screen should always be positioned at eye level. There is a risk of neck or eye muscles being strained if the screen is higher than eye level. Computer health and safety rules also mention that the screen should be wiped on a regular basis; screen visibility will be seriously affected by build up of dirt or smears on the screen. Frequent breaks should also be taken from the screen so that eye muscles don't get strained.

5. The keyboard

In order to follow computer health and safety instructions, the keyboard should be positioned above elbow level. More use should be made of the keyboard as opposed to use of the mouse. Many workers use only the wrist to move the mouse when it should be moved by the whole of the arm.

6. Typing position

Many people are unaware of how much the typing position can increase risks of injury to all parts of the lower arm. Computer health and safety rules should be examined in regards to how the arms, wrists, hands and fingers should be positioned when typing.

7. Networks

Electromagnetic field radiation negatively affects computer health and safety. This can be avoided by using wired networks as opposed to wi-fi or wireless networks.

8. Portable devices

Even though most office environments are supplied with computers, a lot of people bring their own portable devices like laptops. Many are unaware that the same computer health and safety guidelines apply to these portable devices as much as they do to static devices (e.g. the worker with the portable device should also ensure that they have good posture and positioning like the worker with the static device.)

There also exist computer health and safety measures that apply specifically to portable devices, such as the way in which they are carried from location to location.

9. Computer health and safety exercises

There are various computer health and safety exercises you can do whilst at the workplace. These are gentle exercises that take up minimal time and do not require any special equipment. If the worker carries out these exercises on a regular basis then stress and strains on eye, neck, back or arm muscles can be avoided or improved.

As a result computer health and safety measures are advantageous to workers and the employer. If workers are more comfortable and can avoid potential injuries, then they will be able to generate more business for their employer.
